Thanks to its natural porosity, lava stone helps regulate the humidity inside your wine cellar, meaning its moisture level.
How to Use Lava Stones?
Be sure to thoroughly wet the lava stones before the first use. Once damp, insert them into your cellar:
- Either by spreading them out at the bottom on the compressor step, along the drainage channel;
- Or by placing them in the specially designed lava stone box (optional). The box should also be positioned at the bottom of the cellar on the compressor step.
Be careful not to block the drainage channel.
Lifespan of Lava Stones
It is recommended to replace the lava stones in your wine cellar approximately every 3 years. However, the renewal may need to be more frequent, largely depending on the use of the cellar (number of door openings, etc.). Keep in mind: if the stones become crumbly, replace them as they will no longer be able to absorb excess moisture.
